The Stirling Pageant - we are in it again..

Posted in New Blog! at 5:24 am by GMM

With the help of designer Ian Robinson - a friend from my past theatre life (pre OM) we are again putting in a float into the Stirling Pageant. An annual Christmas event for our local community held in November each year. This is our 15th entry over the years. (We are about to hit our 19th year in the business - February next year celebrates 25 years since the business was established. Just might be a party or two around that time)

Anyway - our theme this year is VERY Mardi Gras - with a Rio / African flavour and a definite Mambo beat to dance to.

25 Staff are taking part in the float - it’s being choreographed by the Artistic Director of ‘Dance Excentrix’ Suzie Wyndram - a local Dance Company (Coincidentally Suzie is one of the original owners of the OM - started in 1982 - two of her daughters are currently working in the CafĂ© - great how things go in circles with generational change)

Had a mask making workshop in the shed at home tonight - along with a dance rehearsal up and down the road. What the neighbours, sheep, cattle and kangaroos thought I would hate to think!

Anyway - after some good Organic Wines - gee there are some good ones on the market now - and the traditional sausage sizzle, it seemed to go off very well - mind you it’s a week away so I am not sure what variation of the original choreography we are going to end up with on the night!

Will post some photos in the next few days to give a glimpse of what the end product will look like - not giving away too many secrets mind you.

Have a look at the main page on our Website - Click Galley - click Events - the last photo will give you an idea of Ian’s work for our entry in the 2003 Pageant. All materials are from local $2 shops!
